Why it happened
The bet each side made
The Thunder tried to place another scorer beside Russell Westbrook and Paul George; the Knicks finally began a post-Anthony reset.
Why history remembers it
The trio lasted one season, a reminder that star accumulation and basketball fit are separate questions.
What changed
The consequences
- Oklahoma City finished fourth in the West but lost in the first round.
- Anthony accepted a smaller role before leaving the following summer.
