How the Finals changed
1990
Detroit completes its argument
The Pistons repeated by beating Portland, proving their 1989 title was more than an injury-assisted transition. Their defense and collective toughness remained the obstacle Chicago had to solve.
1991–93
The first Bulls three-peat
Chicago beat Magic’s Lakers, Drexler’s Blazers and Barkley’s Suns. Jordan supplied a different defining image each year, while Pippen and the triangle offense made the Bulls structurally complete.
